Help me with pokemon platinum?

OK well i beat the game and went to the distortion world to get the orb for giritina. I saw an item and it was a rare bone. The next day, i went back there to catch a high leveled haunter, and the item was still there! Today, i went there, and it was still there, next to the portal. Is this some sort of glitch?
